Highlights & NewsPHMSA FY2014 Budget The House Appropriations Committee yesterday released its version of the fiscal year 2014 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development funding bill, which is being considered in subcommittee today. The legislation proposes a slight increase for the activities of the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety, from $42.6 million to $42.8 million. Most importantly, the legislation does not include the Administration’s request for a user fee to be imposed on applicants for special permits and Approvals. The APA advocated against such user fees. While this is just the first step, the bill has to be enacted, the APA is hopeful we will be able to keep the user fees on SPs and Approvals out of the final bill, like we achieved in the previous FY budget. |
