APA At Work

Educating Policymakers

APA works with key regulatory agencies to ensure that they have a thorough understanding of pyrotechnic products, proper classification, storage, handling and use.

Recently, the APA organized a field trip for key officials of the Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) who traveled to Radford, Virginia to tour the manufacturing facility of APA member Pyrotechnique by Grucci. Phil Grucci and his staff provided an informative overview for the group which included the new PHMSA Administrator Skip Elliott, Associate Administrator Bill Schoonover, and General Counsel Paul Roberti who were joined by APA Executive Director Julie Heckman. The productive day provided officials will a better understanding of the manufacturing process as well as some of the challenges that industry faces regarding transportation, safety, and Approvals

Cultivating ties with policymakers and sharing information about the fireworks industry is just one of the ways the APA works 365 days a year to Preserve & Promote the American Tradition of celebrating with fireworks.
