APA Advisory - Virtual Conference Welcome Video

January 6, 2021

TO:             ,

SUBJECT: Please Send Us a Video Greeting by Friday, January 15

The APA Virtual Educational Conference will be held Feb. 2-4 and we have a terrific three days planned – our latest confirmed speakers include former Congressman Jeff Denham and Scott Aliferis, K&L Gates who will provide insights into the new Congress and the latest developments in Washington, D.C. See the complete agenda here.

While we would prefer to meet face-to-face, we are excited to share this professionally produced virtual conference with our members and need their assistance. We are encouraging members to film a brief 5 to 10 second video clip to welcome other members to the 2021 Virtual Educational Conference..

These clips will be gathered and edited into a welcome video montage that will play at the beginning of the conference. Members wishing to participate are asked to follow these guidelines:

1) Please select a quiet location (be mindful of traffic noise, A/C units, compressors, machinery, cellphones, and people talking in the background).

2) Please ensure adequate lighting, i.e. not too dark, also try to avoid harsh shadows, i.e. outdoors on a sunny day.

3) If possible, pick a location with an interesting background ("clutter" looks great on camera!), but be mindful and avoid bright windows behind you (i.e. "backlighting").

4) Please shoot in a horizontal (i.e not "tall screen") format, 1920x1080 (2K) or 3840x2160 (4K) format at "30P" (30 frames per second) - if using a cell phone please hold it horizontally and use the highest quality setting.

5) Please place the camera/phone on a tripod or other stable, solid surface at eye level (a large box, high table or stack of books works well).

6) Please directly address the camera with a brief welcome message such as "Welcome to the 2021 Virtual Educational Conference". Please feel free to include multiple people/team members in a chorus and use your own wording for the greeting but please keep it 10-seconds or less. Costumes, props and other creative ideas are very welcome! Providing multiple takes is also encouraged.

7) Please review the footage and make sure that you are happy with the way it portrays you; do you like the location, lighting and sound? Are you happy with your personal appearance and delivery?

8) Please upload footage and send a link to Jesse Veverka at [email protected] when ready.

We think this will be a fun way to kick off the virtual conference and know it will be bring smiles to everyone.

If you haven’t already registered for the conference, please do so at either this link or by completing this form and emailing it to Annelise Gillespie at [email protected]
