COVID 19 Protocols for APA’s Annual Convention, September 21-24, 2021
Hyatt Regency Riverwalk, San Antonio, TX

As health and safety remain our foremost priority, the APA continues to closely monitor all CDC and local guidance regarding COVID-19 and the Delta variants.  The APA team and the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk San Antonio are working with a focus on functional designs for social distancing, food / beverage services, and more. Updated information will be posted here as well as on APA’s Convention website, and we encourage you to frequent them to stay abreast of our policies.

While participating in meetings and events held or sponsored by the APA, we urge attendees to follow applicable local, state and/or federal guidelines at the time of the meeting or activity. Because the COVID-19 Delta variant is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, APA is working diligently to put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, the APA cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the Delta variants, individuals who fall within any of the categories below should not engage in APA events or activities. By attending an APA event, you acknowledge that you do not fall into any of the following categories:

  1. Individuals who currently or within the past fourteen (14) days have experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19, (please reference CDC Guideline) which may include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others; or

  2. Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by appropriate public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.

In addition, those members in a “high risk” health category should exercise caution before attending an in-person meeting unless vaccinated against COVID. The APA strongly encourages vaccination. We urge all unvaccinated members to obtain a negative COVID-19 test three (3) days prior to traveling to APA’s Convention in San Antonio.

Our host hotel, the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk, does require that all unvaccinated guests wear masks.  We ask unvaccinated attendees to abide by the hotel’s mask requirement.

The Hyatt has prepared this “Know Before You Go” information sheet on health and safety procedures.
